Advertising has had an impact on me ever since I was little.
Whether it was related to food, candy, toys, video games, whatever caught my
attention, I ran to my mom or dad and begged them to get it for me. Advertising
agencies and companies know how to manipulate children in making their parents
buy their products. Advertisements are the gateways to letting children know
what the coolest or hottest thing on the market. Even to this day, I am
interested in what new products are being advertised on commercials or on
billboards, but I don’t have to run to my parents to beg them to get them for
me. But going back to advertisements back in the 90s, everything seemed
appealing to my eyes as a child since I wanted anything and everything that was
“cool.” Regardless if the campaign/commercial for the product was good or
horrific, if I like the product, I wanted it. What interests me now, not
including what may seem appealing, is how the product/service is being
portrayed, by which celebrity, if the message is relatable with humor or
emotion, and if it is an effective advertisement. I dislike advertising that’s
dull, has no creativity, and just painful to listen and look at. There have
been recent commercials on television that are just stupid and horrendous. Here
is a link to the worst infomercial I have ever seen, the EZ cracker.
I understand that they’re trying to make people’s lives
easier, but cracking an egg, seriously!?There isn’t much to explain what
product they’re informing about, but it’s just too horrible…
I actually found advertisements of toys that I wanted as a
child. They were these Power Ranger toys that I wanted and begged my parents
for, which I did not get that moment. I actually got them for my birthday and
Christmas presents. Here is a blast from the past, one of the few commercials I
remember as a 90s kid.
